Jessner's Chemical Peel for All Skin Types

WHAT IS IT: A Jessner's peel combines 14 percent salicylic acid, 14 percent lactic acid and 14 percent resorcinol. This peel ships to you in a 30ml (1fl oz) glass amber bottle. This amount will provide 8-10 full face peels. This is a 1.2 pH medium-level peel designed for experienced users, and is suitable for most skin types. Jessner's peels have a great track record with darker skin types that normally don't respond well to peeling.

WHAT DOES IT DO: The salicylic acid in the Jessner's peel is responsible for dissolving the upper layer of the skin by breaking up keratin. Salicylic acid helps dissolve the dirt, sebum and debris in your pores that cause blackheads, enlarged pores and acne outbreaks. It also helps reduce oil production and provides gentle exfoliation. Because it is closely related to Aspirin, there is a small chance of allergic reaction if you have an Aspirin allergy and you should choose a different peel.

The lactic acid in this peel stays on the surface of the skin where it provides exfoliation. Lactic acids have been used for centuries to renew skin tone and texture. You can find low concentrations of lactic acid in honey, papaya and citrus fruit. Lactic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy acid that helps encourage cell turnover and stimulates collagen formation while helping to smooth and soften the skin.

Resorcinol provides antiseptic properties while helping to break up the glue that holds dead skin cells together. Resorcinol is widely used to professionally treat eczema, acne and other dermatological issues. Resorcinol is an effective exfoliator that helps loosen the damaged skin layers to expose the new fresh skin beneath while also stimulating collagen to form.

These ingredients combined effectively treat fine lines, acne, sun damage, dull skin, uneven complexion, rosacea, millia, age spots and superficial scarring.

HOW DO YOU USE IT: Chemical peels are applied in a thin layer across the skin and left on for a predetermined amount of time. After this time, the chemical peel is neutralized in a simple baking soda solution. Your chemical peel will include detailed step-by-step instructions including pre- and post-care instructions.

WHY USE AN AT-HOME JESSNER'S PEEL: If you're like most of my clients, you'd love to be able to look in the mirror and see clear, even toned, radiant skin, but you're unable or unwilling to pay for expensive treatments offered by spas and dermatology offices.
You owe it to yourself to see what a dramatic difference a Jessner's chemical peel can give you, not just on your face, but neck, chest and hands. This versatile peel has a proven track record of safety and great results. Jessner's peels done in a dermatology office cost an average of $300.00 per peel. On average, you'll require six courses to see optimal results.

OTHER INFORMATION: The Jessner's Peel is a light to medium peel, the depth of which is controlled by the amount of time you leave it on your skin and the number of layers you use. This is a very safe peel and is suitable for all skin types, especially those with oily or acne prone skin. Some darker skin tones, particularly African American run a small risk of post peel hyper or hypo pigmentation.
As with all products, a patch test is recommended to see how your skin reacts.

Ive been buying this from Skin Obsession for years. Before that I was paying $50-$75 a session to have this done by a professional. I feel like the results are almost the same. Definitely recommended!

I have been fighting the whole age & skin concerns that come with hittin the mid 40's. My biggest complaint has been a texture less than acceptable around my temples & upper cheek area. In my 30's I would spoil myself on microderm's & learned the importance of alpha hydroxy acids. Cleasning just wasn't cutting it any longer. And weekly microderm's wasn't in my "2 kids in college" budget. After research, I found myself here. Thankfully! Admittedly, the peel didn't offer the frosting & peeling I was expecting. Perhaps this is due to my consistent use of Glycolic & Salicylic in my cleansers. I was a bit disappointed to not get these common effects. I was sure the benefits had to be there somewhere.
And certainly they were! What a difference I found under that layer of light peeling! My face has not felt this fantastic in YEARS! I can not say enough of this peel. I even get excited to apply my makeup. It's just amazing. I have found a great new "skin secret" here at Skin Obsession!

helps scarring! July 16, 2013

I've had several Jessner Peels done professionally before, for $85, & didn't really see any dramatic results as I was promised. I figured I'd try doing it myself, & I'm happy I did. I will admit, that I thought I had ruined my skin immediately after & for the the two days after having applied the peel. I even emailed Skin Obsession a picture of myself & someone emailed me back soon after, easing my fears. I was pretty much relegated to staying inside for two days slathered in moisturizer, but by day three brown sheets of my face were already peeling off. Days 3 & 4 were the heaviest days of peeling and I'm still lightly flaking off today (day 6), but can easily be seen in public. My new skin revealed my old scars are evened out & hyperpigmentation has been reduced. I'm hoping that with several more of these peels that my scars will be nearly gone & I'll have no more acne marks left. After one peel though, the results have been great!

literally baby soft and clear skin again August 18, 2012

I used the 50 % Glycolic for about two and 1/2 months before deciding to move on to bigger and better. My first time applying the the Jessner peel it felt like my face was being burned off. This peel is not meant for people with a low pain threshold. Since I was an experienced peeler the burning sensation was not a surprise, and when using a cooling tool like a fan or a blow dryer, the discomfort is bearable. My face was slightly red for the night. The actual peeling isn't terrible meaning you don't have to stay indoors. it's similar to bad sunburn. The results are evident a week after the peel. My skin is clearer and much softer after just one use. The discomfort while applying the peel is sooooooooo worth it.  I feel like my pre- puberty  skin is making a comeback.
