    Disclaimer

This peel is one step up from our 30% Alpha Beta peel. It can retexturize the skin, restoring the radiance of your youth. These easy to use peels combine the benefits of both the AHA's and BHA's, with little to light peeling at the 40% concentration.
These peels are repeated every three weeks and this kit provides enough peel solution for approximately 4-5 months worth of peels. Your skin will feel softer, look smoother, with improved texture and tone and reduced signs of sun damage. Those are the differences on the surface of your skin. With a peel of this strength, a full course of peels (8-10 peels) are needed to see optimal results.
This is a 30ml (1fl oz) bottle of each peeling agent (2 bottles total, 2 oz total), medical quality. Step one Salicylic/Lactic is pH 4, Step 2 Glycolic is pH 2, bottled in amber glass to preserve the activity of the product. Along with the peel you will receive a detailed instruction manual and a free sample of our best selling Microdermabrasion Crystals (one per shipment).

Chemical peels are versatile tools that are used to resurface the upper layers of your skin by loosening the bonds between the dead skin cells that dull your skin, while stimulating the collagen beneath the skin to form and align, which in turn plumps up the fine lines and scars from below the surface. They have been around since Cleopatra bathed in milk (contains lactic acid!) to make her skin smooth. Fortunately, science has made a lot of progress since then and the chemical peels available now are sophisticated and effective.
Our Alpha Beta peel contains both Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid. Glycolic Acid is a naturally occurring chemical belonging to the Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) family. Derived from sugar cane, this important AHA is the smallest of the fruit acids and is able to penetrate the skin, allowing it to effectively dissolve the 'glue' that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. The dead skin cells are what cause a dull, uneven skin tone, and the blocking of pores leading to blackheads and acne. This dissolving action of the Glycolic Acid allows the dead cells to slough off, leaving behind a smoother skin surface with clear pores. This also helps stimulate collagen formation under the skins surface which helps plump up the skin from beneath, smoothing out fine surface wrinkles and superficial scars.
Salicylic acid, a common beta hydroxy acid, has been used for treating acne for decades. In fact, acne treatment remains the primary use for beta hydroxy acids. Its effect on the epidermis and upper dermis are similar to those of prescription Retin-A, but with less irritation. It is soluble in oil and can exfoliate oily skin areas, even within oil-rich pores. Therefore, it has a beneficial effect on acne, pigmentary disturbances, and sun damaged skin.

Because it does exfoliate, it has recently been added to formulations for chemical skin peels. Our 40% Alpha Beta peel is a light peel and is suitable for all skin types and both beginning and experienced peelers. There may be some redness right after the peel, but generally there is not much if any actual peeling. The 40% is very safe when used as directed, but is a strong, professional strength peel (pH 1) and should be used only as directed. As with all products, a patch test is recommended to see how your skin reacts to the peel. As with all exfoliating products, the use of sunscreen is essential to obtaining the results you are looking for.

If you are not able to commit to using a sunscreen, this is not the treatment you should choose as you will just damage your skin all over again!
Chemical peels should not be used on any sensitive areas of the body, including but not limited to the underarms and groin/genitals.

Very, very happy customer January 9, 2012
Reviewer: Jane from Austin, TX United States
I started getting chemical peels when I was in high-school, I but once I graduated from college financial considerations (i.e. being self-insured) put a halt to visits to my aesthetician.

The differences in the way my skin looked were notable - in college I was often complimented on how nice my skin looked, but once the peels stopped the compliments stopped.

I was dubious when I saw Skin Obsession mentioned on an online acne forum. I'd had no idea that you could buy chemical peels without having some sort of license.

Overcoming my skepticism I ordered and I couldn't be happier.

I LOVE being able to do these peels at home for a FRACTION of what it would cost if I went to an aesthetician. I can also afford to do peels whenever I want (although I would strongly suggest that anyone new to peels follow the instructions closely until you know how your skin will react).

My skin is finally starting to look like it did before lack of funding turned it into a disaster zone.

'Does Exactly What It Says August 28, 2011
Reviewer: BCW BCW from Beverly Hills, CA United States
After eight weeks I am pleased with my results.

    Here is what I did:
    1. Don't need to purchase a neutralizer. Use the baking soda and water mixture as indicated. I added ice.
    2. I NEVER SCRUB before, during, after peel.
    3. Protect results- use sunscreen and moisturizer.
    4. I peel on Friday- by Monday makeup application is smoother.
    5. I poured peel into a stainless steel spoon and used two separate, foundation brushes to apply the peels.  ('Didn't like gauze or cotton balls.)
    6. I wash my face using just my hands and my usual cleanser. Using wash cloths, sponges or nylon puffs is too irritating during  weeks of peeling.
    7. I WATCH THE CLOCK CAREFULLY, work quickly and DON'T APPLY PRESSURE.

Results: Discolorations have significantly faded, fine lines diminished, pores are much smaller, skin is brighter and smoother. I use a LOT LESS makeup than before, moisturizers absorb quickly. Makeup stays in place longer.

    'Love this product!

    'Hope this review is helpful.

    First time! March 24, 2011
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Boston, MA United States
I've never had a professional peel but wanted some visible results, so decided on the mid-strength combo peel. I just did it- simple process, easy-to-follow instructions, moderate stinging. My skin immediately feels tight and super smooth! I'm excited to see how much dead skin comes off in the next few days. You'd pay at least this much for over-the-counter drugstore stuff that doesn't work well, so you can't beat the price! My order arrived very quickly after an easy transaction.

    Works December 30, 2010
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from San Dimas, CA United States
I usually go to the esthetician and I pretty much get the same results. I personally get very red because I'm light skinned, and I flake and sometimes get brown spots, which my esthetician told me was what she wants.  I have ice pick acne scars, but because I routinally under go chemical peels, my scars are a lot less noticeable, and I have hope that one day they will vanish. I also rarely get pimples at all, unless I go over 4 months without getting a peel, but even then there rare. When using this peel, I did not like neutralizing it with baking soda, I just washed it off lightly with cool water. But try the baking soda first to see if it works better for you than me. Lastly I recommend using a hair blow dryer set on the coldest temperature you can get it and blow it on your face while the peels are on, it will help the burning if you cant handle it.
