Light-Level 40% Glycolic Acid Chemical Peel

WHAT IS IT: This is the most popular of our Glycolic peel line. The 40% Glycolic acid peel is a fantastic balance of no down time and great results that yield smoother, softer and more even toned skin.
Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring chemical belonging to the Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) family. Derived from sugar cane, this important AHA is the smallest of the fruit acids and is able to penetrate the skin, allowing it to effectively dissolve the 'glue' that holds dead cells on the surface of the skin. The dead skin cells are what cause a dull, uneven skin tone, and the blocking of pores leading to blackheads and acne.
This is a 30ml (1fl oz) bottle of 40% Glycolic peeling solution, medical quality, pH 1.5 in amber glass to preserve the activity of the product. Along with the peel you will receive a detailed instruction manual and a free sample of our best selling Microdermabrasion Crystals (one per shipment).

WHAT DOES IT DO: The dissolving action of the glycolic acid allows the dead cells to slough off, leaving behind a smoother skin surface with clear pores. This also helps stimulate collagen formation under the skins surface which helps plump up the skin from beneath, smoothing out fine surface wrinkles and superficial scars.
If you would like to safely take years off the look of your skin in the comfort of your own home, while saving hundreds over having it done professionally, this is a great peel to consider. We carry a full line of professional quality skin care products to help all of your skin care concerns.Glycolic Acid has long been a first line product of the finest spas and Dermatology offices for improving the skin. For those of you who have heard the term 'Lunch Time Peel', this is the chemical used for it, and it is used by many if not most of Hollywood's most famous faces (women AND men!) and the Rodeo Drive clientele who can afford the best that money can buy.

HOW DO YOU USE IT: The 40% Glycolic peel is very safe when used as directed, but is a strong, professional strength peel (pH 1) and should be used only as directed. As with all products, a patch test is recommended to see how your skin reacts to the peel. This peel is very easy to use, you simply cleanse, apply, time it, neutralize (Baking Soda and water) and rinse. This peel can be left on for up to 10 minutes, depending on the depth you'd like to peel at. We include very clear instructions on how to use this product.

WHY USE A 40 PERCENT GLYCOLIC PEEL: Our 40% Glycolic Peel is a mild Glycolic acid peel and is suitable for all skin types and both beginning and experienced peelers. These peels will cost from $75.00 - $500.00 PER PEEL at your Dermatologists office or your local high end spa. Now you can do these peels at home safely and with fantastic results. Each bottle of our 40% Glycolic Acid Peel will yield approximately 8 peels done at 1 month intervals, a potential savings of $733.00-$5000.00!. After peeling your skin will be feel softer, look smoother, with improved texture and tone and reduced signs of sun damage. Those are the differences on the surface of your skin. With collagen stimulation under the skin, fine lines and scars are smoothed out.

WHAT TO EXPECT: There may be some redness right after the peel, but generally there is not much if any actual peeling (hence the name Lunch Time Peel, you can go right back to work after you have it done).

OTHER INFORMATION: With a peel of this strength, a full course of peels (8-10 peels) are needed to see optimal results. About 2 days after the peel your skin may start to flake and peel slightly, but should not have much if any peeling. You can encourage any peeling by using warm compresses but please do not pick at the skin! It must come off when it is ready to, not when you are ready for it to! By peeling off the skin you risk scarring by exposing skin that is not ready for the world yet, so allow the skin to shed on its own.As with all exfoliating products, the use of sunscreen is essential to obtaining the results you are looking for. If you are not able to commit to using a sunscreen, this is not the treatment you should choose as you will just damage your skin all over again! Chemical peels should not be used on any sensitive areas of the body, including but not limited to the underarms and groin/genitals.

2 of 5 Acid peel February 28, 2019
Reviewer: Roseanne Daede from Bowdle, SD United States
I used this peel and my face broke out with severe acne the very next day.  I left it on for only 5 minutes.  Maybe I should have used a 20% or 30% peel, but is this common? I am not usually acne prone and I can't even bear to leave the house right now.  I am still hoping that this will clear up and I will see some improvement in my skin tone.

Reply: Hi Roseanne. Those with sensitive skin can experience an adjustment period when new products upset the normal routine.  Glycolic peels' depths can be adjusted very easily with the time left on skin before neutralization, and 5 minutes is on the high end of that spectrum. That being said, it's highly likely that your post-peel routine is what caused your breakout. Using a soap-free cleanser that doesn't disturb the natural skin barrier and moisturizing with a balancing cream that won't clog pores are an essential part of any skin care routine, but especially after peeling.
We offer several cleansers and moisturizers for all skin types. Or if you're out shopping offline, look for non-comedogenic products that are fragrance and detergent-free. Stay away from occlusives like petroleum jelly, and remember to balance your skin's pH with a toner after you wash. Never use alcohol on your face.

1 of 5 Doesnt work for me February 28, 2019
Reviewer: omari bryant from alameda, CA United States
Wondering if i need to try the TCA instead? Literally no results. I've tried twice. I expirience mild tingling then i wash it off and the treated areas mildly burn. but no peeling no frosting no nothing just slight redness and the mild pain. i have blackheads, and light scaring from past acne as well as ingrown bumps thati want gone and im just hopeless about it.

SOMEONE HELP PLSSSS

Reply: In order for a peel to work, it does not have to physically peel or result in intense burning pain. If you have blackheads and mild scarring from past acne, try a 30-percent Alpha/Beta combination peel. Our Alpha/Beta peels are great for both of these conditions; these peels go up to 50-percent, at which point you'll move into some pretty deep-level peeling that's similar to the TCA peels. Our TCA peels are also appropriate for mild scars, however, won't do much to address acne or blackheads.
As with any peel, remember to perform a patch test to see how your skin will respond in the hours and days after a peel is applied.

5 of 5 OMG January 24, 2019
Reviewer: Chelsey Mcallister from Louisville, KY United States
I'm 29 years old and have suffered from mild to moderate acne all of my adult life. My pores are larger than most, my skin is oil and sensitive. After the first use of this product my face broke out for the week following the peel. After that first week, it started to heal and my pores are visibly smaller and my skins tone has evened out. I believe peel helped loosen up the clogged pores to reveal my own skin. I can feel the glow!

5 of 5 Glycolic Acid 40% November 21, 2018
Reviewer: Rennis from Mesquite, NV United States
Just received my recent order of Glycolic acid 40% from this company. I haven't opened it yet, but will be using it after the holidays. I have ordered from Skin Obsession for about 4-5 yrs. The products come with directions that are very clear, please READ the INSTRUCTIONS, if you get a nasty burn from this medical grade acid. I apply the product always on the side of "cautious" and I have never gotten a burn, just the "flaking of skin"which is expected. I like the product come in Amber bottles to protect from degradation of the acid. I have been able to keep a bottle for over a year with good results. I recommend going from lowest 20% to 40 or 50% AHA. I have used every grade but being in my 60's now I just want to keep my skin exfoliated & tight for better product absorbtion.
be careful using these products if you are "newbies" using AHA's.
